Car trailers
Practical and easily mounted to the host vehicle, the car trailer is also a vital piece of equipment for agricultural farms. If you want a quick way to transport tools, materials or even your own horse, a car trailer may be far more efficient than having to depend on a van. Numerous styles are available here. These include car tippers, flatbed trailers and special designs such as horse trailers. Platform trailers are among the most popular forms of trailer.
A car trailer does not have its own engine and needs to be pulled by another vehicle, namely a car. A tow-bar is used to transmit the necessary force from the car to the standard trailer, horse trailer or car-tipper. Usually car trailers are equipped with a rigid tow-bar. Axle trailers are characterized by the fact that the tow-bar forms a firm connection with the frame of the vehicle. These are generally two rigidly-mounted axles on the equipment.
Car trailers, which are marketed as tippers, are equipped with a special lifting device which tilts the loading area. Car tippers either tilt to one side only or tilt on three sides. The latter are known as 3-side tippers. This provides a quick and effective solution without the need for vans or trucks, as a car trailer can be coupled to the car without any difficulty. This is, of course, assuming that the vehicle has a trailer hitch. These practical and helpful transporters can also be used with SUVs. Trailers for this type of vehicle are used for very heavy loads.
Generally, car trailers come in different versions for different weights of transport. It does not matter what needs to be transported. This convenient apparatus is a quick and easy solution for small- and medium-sized transport work. Care must be taken to ensure that the weight of the car is suitable for the corresponding load. For example, the weight of the trailer should not exceed the weight of the car. The driver should note that the combined weight of car and trailer must be 3.5 tonnes or less, otherwise the driver must undergo additional training and licencing.
Safety is a top priority, even with car trailers. For example, trailers are equipped with overrun brakes. The overrun brake is located on the trailer. The trailer coupling transmits power to the brakes on the trailer. In Germany, brakes are allowed to be used on car trailers up to a maximum mass of 3.5 tons (car+trailer).
Car trailers don't always need to be new, used trailers can give outstanding service at an unbeatable price. This is equally true for used horse trailers, used tippers or simple car trailers. Trailers by the manufacturer Kress are particularly popular on the resale market.
